Sharon Sanders, RN

Chief Executive Officer

Sharon Sanders, RN, CEO has worked in almost every area of nursing since earning her degree at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami many years ago. She spent a few years as a Navy nurse during the seventies and then worked in the ER for 15 years at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA. After leaving the city for a place in the country, she worked in a rural ER for ten years.

For the past 4 years Sharon has worked as a nursing editor and writer for Wild Iris Medical Education, an Internet continuing education company. During her nursing practice she has been certified and educated in multiple ED and trauma related courses such as CEN, TNCC, MICN, CCU, and multiple years of retraining in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NALS. Sharon brings a wealth of clinical, educational, and organizational skills and experience to the ATrain Education team.

Lauren Robertson, BA, MPT

President and Editor-in-Chief

Lauren Robertson became a medical writer and editor following nearly 15 years working as a physical therapist in acute care, home health, and long-term care. She spent 6 years teaching neuroanatomy to physical and occupational therapy assistant students at a college in Santa Rosa, CA.

Lauren founded Wild Iris Medical Education in 1998 and served as its CEO and editor-in-chief until March 2008. She has authored or co-authored more than 50 continuing education courses for nurses, physical and occupational therapists and brings enthusiasm, strategic thinking, and a unique vision to the team at ATrain Education.

Elizabeth Macera PhD, RN, NP-C

Lead Nurse Planner

Elizabeth Macera is co-director of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nursing Program and an associate clinical professor in the Department of Physiological Nursing at UCSF in San Francisco and serves as an appraiser for Accredited Provider and Approver Programs for the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Elizabeth is a member of the Kaiser-Permanente Nursing Department and practices in a sub-acute facility where she manages the care of patients with complex conditions and multiple chronic illnesses. Recently, Elizabeth began service to the global community by assisting in the formation of the first gerontological nursing masters program in the continent of Africa. Elizabeth brings a passion for healthcare and education to the ATrain team and we are pleased to utilize her expertise in the planning and development of our educational offerings.

JoAnn O'Toole, RN, BSN

Nurse Planner and Nursing Editor

JoAnn O'Toole is a nursing editor and writer who works as an ER nurse at a certified stroke center at Kaiser Redwood City in California. Prior to that, she worked for 15 years in the neuroscience department at Kaiser. JoAnn writes and edits courses for ATrain Education to help us ensure compliance with accreditation standards. JoAnn has spent time living and studying in Mexico City and uses her language skills in her current job to facilitate communications with Spanish-speaking clients. JoAnn is the co-author of ATrain's Acute Stroke course.

Madelin Holtkamp

Business Manager

Madelin has been a consultant in management, finance and strategic planning for small businesses for the past 16 years. During that time, she built and sold  6 businesses in Northern California and participated in the founding and development of a non-profit assisting micro-entrpreneurs. Through the non-profit and as a teacher of Small Business Development at Mendocino College, Madelin has helped many businesses find capital and improve their financial, management and marketing results. Madeilin brings her solid business and management expertise to ATrain's business operations development.
