Liz Macera is a nurse practitioner specializing in geriatrics. She earned a PhD in gerontological nursing at the University of California, San Francisco, and then joined UCSF as associate clinical professor in their Gerontological Advanced Practice Nursing Program. In 2009 she spent six months in Durban, South Africa on a Fulbright scholarship teaching geriatric nursing at the University of KwaZulu Natal. She is currently employed providing palliative care to nursing home residents.
Liz has served as a site appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is currently co-chair of the Educational Affairs Committee for the California Association for Nurse Practitioners. She has written a number of continuing education articles on Alzheimer's disease and dementia and reviews articles for various publications. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and choral singing.
